Paul Vunak Techniques 07/30/2008
This is Paul Vunak who was taught by Dan Inosanto to teach Jeet Kune Do. He shows some very impressive techniques, Pak Sao, Lop Sao, Head But, Knee to the groin. Now some opponents react different so Paul adds the arm wrench to the equation. So if you take the fight out of the person, the fight is already one. This is the power of the arm wrench. Another alternative is a Wrist Lock. Jeet Kune Do, favors trapping which is non existence in most martial arts. This is where you have an advantage over most forms of martial arts that rely on basic blocking and striking. If you encounter a block, you trap it, add headbutts, knees and elbows to your tools and you have a different animal. The efficienty of a martial art depends on ranges and circumstances of a fighter. If a boxer fights a wrestler, it depends on who can maintain that range. Or a boxer and a kicker. So in essence. If you are limited to one range in a fight, you might be at a disadvantage, If you don't know the other ranges in a fight. Always remember you cannot pick ranges or environments they pick you. So someone small might think that grappling is no good. But if push comes to shove, you might be forced to fight at that range. Remember sometimes the bear get you and sometimes you get the bear. Enough said. |
